Ugly CD Player is an application that lets you play audio CDs on your Power Macintosh. It is designed to take up only a small amount of screen space, making it easy to tuck into an open area of the screen for convenient access to the playback functions.
In addition, there is a display of the current track and play time. If you click on the track area (by the "TRK:" label), a popup menu appears which allows you to quickly skip to any other track on the CD.
If you click on the time, you get a popup menu which allows you to select the time display mode. You can select between Track Elapsed Time (time from the start of the track), Track Remaining Time (remaining time in the track), Disc Elapsed Time (time from the start of the disc), and Disc Remaining Time (remaining time in the disc). The current mode is shown in the time display area as a "T+", "T-", "D+", or "D-" respectively.
Ugly CD Player allows you to edit CD track titles as well as the title of the CD. To do so,
select the "Show Disc Information" menu item from the "File" menu. You will then be allowed to edit and view track titles. This information is stored in the same file that is used by "AppleCD Audio Player" (which comes with MacOS). This means that any titles you have entered using Apple's CD player, are automatically accessible to (and changeable by) Ugly CD Player.

Troubleshooting:
If you run into problems with Ugly CD Player, first close down all open applications, restart your machine, and try again. If that fails, make sure that your CD-ROM drive is working and that it supports audio CD playback.
If Ugly CD Player seems to think that your CD is playing, but there is no sound, go to the "Monitors & Sound" control panel. Then make sure that your speaker volume is turned up. Also make sure that your sound input source is activated and set to the CD-ROM drive (rather than the microphone).
If you are unfamiliar with how to use audio CDs or the "Monitors & Sound" control panel on your Macintosh, refer to the manual(s) that came with your computer.
When you launch Ugly CD Player you may receive a message that says that you cannot edit or view CD track information. If this is the case, the CD track information file may be open by another application, most likely "AppleCD Audio Player" which came with your system. If this is the case, quit the offending application and relaunch Ugly CD Player. The problem should then go away. If it doesn't, restart your system and try again. If you still receive this message, please contact technical support (see below).
You may experience audio playback problems with multi-format CDs, that is CDs with not only an audio portion but a data portion as well. At this time, there is no workaround for this problem.
If you continue to have problems, please e-mail technical support (see below).
